Bhubaneswar: An Auxiliary Nurse Midwife worker was brutally assaulted in Kandhamal district on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the victim, Buli Dei Sahu, was returning home after a routine visit when she was assaulted by a young man near her residence.
Sahu, who suffered severe injuries, was rushed to Daringibadi Hospital in a critical condition. As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar.
The incident occurred while her husband was away from home. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
It is learnt that the suspect was loitering near Sahu’s house and attacked her when she was locking the gate.
Darngbadi police have detained a suspect for questioning, based on CCTV footage. A case has been registered in connection with this matter.
