Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Special Relief Commissioner’s (SRC) office on Friday issued an advisory to District Collectors on the heat wave condition prevailing across the state for the last five days.
“As per the special bulletin issued by IMD on Friday, heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjha, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul up to till April 15 and over the districts of Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Sonepur and Boudh from 8.30 am on April 15 to 8.30 am on April 16, the advisory reads.
It has warned people that the prevailing heat is tolerable for the general public but of slight health concern for vulnerable people, including infants, the elderly and sick people.
“So the public may be advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm in these areas,” the advisory says.
Farmers have been advised to continue irrigation activities in sugarcane, summer maize, pulses and other crops and vegetables.
The advisory adds that the District Collectors should closely monitor the situation and take necessary action in their respective areas.
