Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the heat wave condition is very likely to prevail across Odisha till 8.30 hrs on April 16 (Sunday).
In its latest bulletin, the IMD has said that due to prevailing Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation Maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is very likely to rise further by 2°C during the next 2 days at many places over the districts of interior Odisha and no large change thereafter. Consequently, the maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to be more than 40°C and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C at a few places over the districts of Odisha during the next 3 days, the IMD added.
The weather agency in its forecast has advised people to take precautionary measures while going outside during day time between 11.00 AM till 3.00 PM.
The agency has said that on day-1 (valid up to 8.30 AM on Friday) heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore. The agency has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for the aforementioned districts.
Similarly, in its forecast for day-2 (valid up to 8.30 AM on Saturday), the IMD has said that heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul and Balasore. The IMD has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for these districts.
Besides, in its forecast for day-3 (valid up to 8.30 AM on Sunday), the IMD has said that heat wave condition is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Sonepur and Boudh. The IMD has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for these districts.
