Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to reel under sweltering heat today as 22 towns recorded above 42 degrees C.
Similarly, the mercury level crossed 40 degrees C in 33 towns.
Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest city at 43.8 degrees C followed by Baripada which recorded 43.6 and Nuapada 43.5.
Talcher and Boudh became fourth and fifth hottest places recording 43.4 and 43.2 degrees C respectively.
Kendrapara, Cuttack and Bolangir reported 43 degrees C temperature each.
Heat wave conditions prevailed in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Ganjam, Khordha, Nabarangpur, and Nuapada, stated IMD.
The weather agency issued heat wave warning for the next two days.
Heat-wave to severe heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in Gajapati Ganjam, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, Bolangir, Nuapada and Kalahandi districts on April 26.
Similar conditions will persist in Gajapati Ganjam, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Khurdha, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Keonjhar Nuapada, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Boudh in the next day.
The Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar forecasted maximum day temperature likely to rise by 2-4 degrees C during next three to four days at many places in Odisha.
