Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here has forecast a 3°C -5°C rise in day temperature (maximum temperature) in the next two days from Monday and issued a heat wave warning for eight districts of Odisha – Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Boudh, Angul, Deograh and Bolangir.
The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for various districts for the next two days.
According to the IMD, under the influence of dry westerly/northwesterly winds and high solar insolation, heat wave conditions are likely in some districts of interior Odisha from May 15 and the maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely to be more than 40°C at a few places of the state.
Life is likely to be disrupted due to the return of the heat wave after a brief decline in temperature.
The IMD has advised people to take precautionary measures while going outside during the daytime between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm. It has advised people to avoid going out during this time unless very necessary.
On Monday (May 14), heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places in the Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Sonepur districts of Odisha. On the following day (May 16), heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Angul, Deogarh, Boudh, and Bolangir.
On May 17, heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places in the Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, and Bolangir districts of Odisha.
