Bhubaneswar: Odisha reeled under heat wave spell as five places registered a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius and above, according to information released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The western Odisha town of Titilagarh registered the highest maximum temperature of the day at 41 degrees Celsius.
The other places that recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius and above are Baripada (40), Sambalpur (40), Bolangir (40.5) and Boudh (40).
While Capital city Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius, its twin Cuttack was a little cooler at 37.2 degrees Celsius.
Gopalpur in Ganjam district was the coolest of all in the State with 32.1 degrees Celsius followed by Paradip at 33 degrees and Puri at 33.1 degrees.
