Heat Wave To Prevail In Odisha For Next 5 Days, 25 Stations Record 40°C & Above

Bhubaneswar: Hot weather and heat wave conditions prevailed in several parts of Odisha with as many as 25 stations recording maximum day temperature of 40°Celsius and above.

Jharsuguda was the hottest place of the day with a maximum day temperature of 44.8°C followed by Hirakud 44.1°C, Sundargarh 44.0°C, Sambalpur 43.9°C, Sonepur 43.8°C, Rourkela 43.2°C, Talcher 43.0°C, Boudh 42.9°C, Bolangir 42.8°C, Angul 42.7°C, Nuapada 42.6°C, Nayagarh 42.5°C, Dhenkanal 42.5°C, Titilagarh 42.2°C, Bargarh 42°C, Bhadrak 41.5°C, Bhawanipatna 41.2°C, Malkangiri 41.0°C, Chandbali 40.7°C, Balasore 40.6°C, Keonjhar 40°C and Kendrapada 40°C.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have recorded maximum day temperature of 42.4°C and 41.5°C respectively.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued ‘Orange’ and ‘Yellow’ alerts warning of heat wave to severe heat wave conditions in several parts of the state.

The weather forecast agency has said that maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by 5 – 7°C at a few places over the districts of Odisha during the next 4 days. Consequently, hot and discomfort weather is likely during the next 4-5 days.
