Bhubaneswar: The regional India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office here on Friday issued a yellow warning for a heat wave in several districts of Odisha today.
As per an IMD bulletin, one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul, and Balasore districts are likely to experience an intense heat wave today. Similarly, a heat wave warning has been issued for Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh and Sonepur for April 15.
The maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely to rise further by 2°C to 5°C at many places in the state during the next three days owing to prevailing northwesterly/ westerly dry air and high solar insolation, the IMD said.
As many as 25 places in Odisha recorded a day temperature of over 40°C on Thursday. While Baripada was the hottest place in Odisha with 43.5°C, Angul, Sonepur and Boudh followed with 42.5°C on Thursday.
However, the IMD has forecast rain on April 16, which is likely to bring much-needed relief to people in Odisha.
