Bhubaneswar: Heatwave to severe heatwave and warm night conditions is very likely to prevail in western Odisha for the next three days.
Similarly, coastal and interior districts of the state are likely to experience hot and humid weather condition during the same period.
According to a press release issued by the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday, due to prevailing dry conditions in the state and strengthening of northwesterly dry winds in middle & upper level of the atmosphere, maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to be above normal by 3-5°C at many places over the districts of interior Odisha during next 2 days.
Consequently, maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to be between 43 to 45°C at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha with isolated severe to heat wave likely conditions over some districts of Odisha during next 2 days.
Also, due to absence of any major synoptic situation and presence of high humidity in lower level, hot & humid conditions are very likely over coastal Odisha during next 5 days.
However establishment of a north-south trough like features from 1st June, 2024 onwards likely to trigger thunderstorms activity from 1st June, 2024 onwards over some districts of coastal and adjoining districts of Odisha.
The weather agency has advised people to take precautionary measure while going outside during the peak hours of the day time between 11:00 AM- 3:00 PM during the next 3days.
