Bhubaneswar: As the heatwave continues to grip Odisha, Jharsuguda has become the hottest place in the state today, recording a temperature of 39ºC. In total, nine cities across Odisha reported temperatures of 37ºC or higher.
This information was shared by weather scientist Umashankar Dash on Tuesday.
Other cities that saw extreme heat include Baudh (38.5ºC), Malkangiri (38.4ºC), Angul (37.9ºC), Sambalpur and Paralakhemundi (37.8ºC), Balangir (37.5ºC), Hirakud (37.1ºC), and Titlagarh (37ºC).
In Bhubaneswar, the temperature reached 36.4ºC, while Cuttack recorded a lower temperature of 34.6ºC.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there will be no significant change in the maximum (day) temperatures in Odisha over the next 4-5 days.
Similarly, the minimum (night) temperatures are expected to remain stable during this period.
The IMD has also issued a weather warning for fishermen along the Odisha coast, valid for the next 5 days.
