Bhubaneswar: Odisha government will take a call on reopening of schools in the State in view of the prevailing heatwave condition after a review of the situation around May 1-2.
“We have closed the schools for five days. Around May 1-2 we will review the situation and take a decision accordingly,” said School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash.
All schools across the State have been closed from April 26 to April 30 by the School & Mass Education Department after reviewing the intense heatwave situation in the State on April 26.
Bhubaneswar Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the maximum temperature is very likely to be more than 40 degrees Celsius and it is likely to be above normal by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius at many places over districts of interior Odisha and likely to be above normal by 2 to 3 degree Celsius at a few places of coastal Odisha during the next three days.
