Bhubaneswar: The scorching heatwave has tightened its grip on Odisha once again, with several parts of the state recording temperatures close to 40°C. Balasore emerged as the hottest location on Monday, registering a maximum temperature of 39.8°C, followed closely by the state capital Bhubaneswar at 39.6°C.
This information was shared by weather scientist Umashankar Das on his social media account X (formerly Twitter).
According to the Das, maximum temperatures recorded in key cities were as follows:
- Balasore: 39.8°C
- Bhubaneswar: 39.6°C
- Jharsuguda: 39.2°C
- Sambalpur: 39.1°C
- Hirakud: 39.1°C
- Chandbali: 38.4°C
- Rourkela: 37.7°C
- Paradip: 37.5°C
- Puri: 37.0°C
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its mid-day bulletin, has issued a Yellow warning for hot and humid conditions across several districts. The warning is expected to remain in effect till June 7.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours, and stay hydrated as the mercury continues to rise.
