Bhubaneswar: Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely over the districts of Odisha during the next 4 – 5 days, said a special bulletin of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) regional centre here this afternoon.
The IMD’s special bulletin said that due to prevailing mainly Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to be above normal by 3 to 6°C over some districts of the State during the next 4 to 5 days.
The IMD has predicted heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in the districts of Khurda, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Angul and Cuttack on Tuesday and has issued a ‘Red’ alert.
Besides, heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in the districts of Sambalpur, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Deogarh, Nuapada, Sundergarh, Rayagada and Jharsugada. The IMD has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for these districts.
Moreover, the weather department has issued a ‘Yellow’ alert for the districts of Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Bargarh, Rayagada, Koraput and Puri predicting hot and humid weather conditions.
