Heavy Downpour Expected During Rath Yatra In Puri: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Rain and thundershowers may lash Puri town on the eve of Rath Yatra and the downpour is likely to continue for next 3 to 4 days, Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar Director, HR Biswas informed today.

Biswas said that the cyclonic circulation over South Odisha now lies over North Coastal Odisha between 3.1 kilometre and 7.6 kilometre. Besides, a low pressure is very likely to form over Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours.

As a result of which light to moderate rain will continue in most parts of the State over the next 2 to 3 days. Further, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of North Odisha during the next 24 hours.

Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh and Ganjam will be the most affected districts, said Biswas.

"Puri is expected to have rain with thundershowers on July 13 that may continue till July 14 following which light to moderate rain is likely to continue for the next 24 hours and the sky will remain cloudy," he added.
