Bhubaneswar: As many as 04 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), 20 platoons of Odisha State Armed Police(OSAP)/Armed Police Reserve (APR), 46 mobile patrolling parties, 03 flying squads, 03 SST along with district police officers will be deployed for free, fair and smooth conduct of bye-election to Dhamnagar assembly constituency in Bhadrak district which will be held on November 3.
The decision was taken during a review of poll preparedness by DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal held through video conferencing today, said an official press release.
The DGP emphasized on the conduct of free, fair, transparent, impartial and incident-free bye-election.
He stressed on strict enforcement of the model code of conduct and adherence to the Election Commission of India(ECI) guidelines for police arrangements and security arrangements, including visits of VIPs and VVIPs.
He further emphasized on intensifying prophylactic measures including bounding down of persons under sections 110 / 107 CrPC, seizure of illegal arms, seizure of illicit liquor and execution of non-bailable warrants (NBWs).
The Addl. DG of Police (Law & Order), IGP (Hqrs), IGP (Personnel), IGP (Eastern Range), DIGP (Intelligence) and SP, Bhadrak district attended the review meeting through video conferencing.
In the meeting, ADGP, Law and Order RK Sharma reviewed the overall deployment plan and emphasized on enhancing the work of mobile squads, flying squads, and thorough checking by setting up check posts (nakas) around the constituency.
Director Intelligence, Sanjeeb Panda shared the intelligence connected with the bye-election and urged the IGP and SP to closely monitor the law and order situation.
Police have seized 1,035 litres of liquor, registered 83 nos. of excise cases, and executed 164 nos. of pending warrants during the bye-election process so far.
Adequate security arrangements have also been made in the strong room with CCTV coverage to ensure round-the-clock safety of EVMs, the press release said.
