Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has planned massive deployment of forces in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar for the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, as part of an extensive security strategy, Police Commissioner S Debadatta Singh announced in a press briefing on Tuesday.
Commissioner Singh outlined the special strategy focusing on key areas such as traffic regulation, crime prevention, fire and structural safety at puja pandals, and raising public awareness about cybercrime.
“Our core focus will be on streamlining vehicular and non-vehicular traffic, and ensuring the prevention of petty crimes like chain snatching,” Singh stated. He emphasized that traffic control and public safety during the festive season were top priorities.
Additionally, the police will place special attention on fire safety measures at puja pandals across the cities. Puja organizers have been instructed to deploy fire extinguishers and adopt proper safety protocols. Singh also urged the general public to follow safety guidelines to ensure smooth and safe festivities.
In terms of personnel, the Police Commissioner confirmed that 38 platoons of police force will be deployed in Bhubaneswar, and 64 platoons in Cuttack. This will be bolstered by additional forces from the Central Armed Police Force.
Furthermore, around 200 officers from the Commissionerate Police will be stationed across various locations to oversee the implementation of safety measures on the ground, he added.
Singh assured that this comprehensive deployment and strategy aim to provide a secure environment for both the public and the puja organizers, ensuring that the celebrations proceed without disruption.
