Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation is active over the North West Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal coast, which may turn into a low-pressure system by tomorrow, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Meanwhile, the regional weather office has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in four districts of Odisha on June 27.
The IMD has issued an orange warning to Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts, warning of potential heavy to very heavy rainfall. That apart, several other districts in Odisha are also expected to experience scattered rainfall. These districts include Balasore, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
Notably, Puri is expected to have relatively less probability of rainfall on Rath Yatra day.
The regional weather office has reported significant rainfall in several districts of Odisha. According to the latest data, Kendrapara’s Rajnagar has recorded the highest rainfall of 112 mm in the past 24 hours.
Other areas that have experienced considerable rainfall include Mayurbhanj’s Chandua with 86 mm, Kendrapara’s Aul with 79 mm, and Keonjhar’s Joda with 67.2 mm. Additionally, Kendrapara’s Pattamundai has recorded 59 mm of rainfall, while Sundargarh’s Lattikata has received 57 mm. Jajpur’s Bari has recorded 56.2 mm, and Kalahandi’s Thuamul Rampur has received 53 mm of rainfall.
