Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and orange warnings for several districts in Odisha, forecasting moderate thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rain within the next three hours.
According to the nowcast warning issued by the IMD at 10 am, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Jajpur, Deogarh, Angul, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Boudh, Bhadrak, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kendrapara and Sundargarh will likely experience moderate thunderstorms with heavy rain along with lightning. These districts have been issued orange warnings.
Besides, the regional weather office has issued a yellow alert to Bargarh, Ganjam, Nuapada, Gajapati, Balangir, and Kandhamal districts. These districts are likely to experience light to moderate thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall.
IMD has advised people to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
