Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds of 30-40 kmph, affecting several districts in Odisha until July 31.
According to the IMD’s mid-day weather bulletin, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are very likely at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Bolangir districts on July 30.
The same conditions, along with gusty winds, are also expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts on July 30.
The yellow warning continues on July 31, with thunderstorms and gusty winds forecasted in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts.
Residents are advised to stay cautious and avoid venturing outdoors during severe weather.
The IMD also stated that no significant weather warnings are expected after July 31.
