Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain/ thundershowers accompanied by lightning in 20 districts of Odisha on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A yellow alert for rain has been issued in north and south Odisha for Tuesday due to the possibility of lightning and rain. The yellow warning is in place in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir and Bargarh districts.
Meanwhile, the weather office has predicted the formation of another depression in the west-central Bay of Bengal on October 6. As a result, the intensity of rain will increase in the state from October 4. Scattered rain will occur in different parts of the state from October 4 to 10. In other words, Odisha is likely to experience a wet spell during the ensuing Durga Puja festivities.
The state has received 1092 mm of rain during this monsoon from June 1 and faces a 5 per cent rain deficit as of now, the IMD said.
