Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are very likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain during the next three days, the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar alerted on Wednesday. The weather office has also issued a yellow warning for heavy rain in nine districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur on Wednesday.
The IMD has forecast 70 mm to 110 mm rainfall in these districts. Moreover, yellow alerts for rain have been issued for five Odisha districts on Thursday, six districts on Friday and five districts on Saturday.
According to the weather office, a monsoon low-pressure system is active in the state, while a cyclonic circulation is active across north-east Madhya Pradesh, north-east Rajasthan and Bangladesh. In addition, another cyclonic circulation is active in and around Jharkhand. Due to this, the state will experience cloudy weather accompanied by light to moderate rain in some places.
Coastal Odisha is experiencing heavy rain and the temperature recorded in this region is between 30°C and 34°C degrees.
Keeping the weather conditions in view, the IMD has advised people to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
