Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for several districts in Odisha, alerting residents to potential thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in the next three hours.
According to a nowcast warning issued by the IMD at 7:30 am, the IMD has warned of moderate thunderstorms with moderate rain and lightning affecting parts of Bhadrak, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Kendrapara districts within the next three hours.
Additionally, the districts of Balasore, Ganjam, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Angul, and Nayagarh have been issued a yellow warning. The regional weather office has warned these districts of moderate thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rain within the next three hours.
Residents are advised to keep a close watch on the weather for worsening conditions. People are recommended to move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Minor damage to kachha structures and waterlogging may occur due to heavy rainfall.
