Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Centre (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in parts of Odisha today due to an active low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the IMD, the low-pressure area has moved northwards and is now situated over the northwest and central Bay of Bengal, with associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.
A yellow warning has been issued for heavy rainfall, with predictions of 7-11 cm of rain in several districts, including Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri
The low-pressure system is likely to intensify into a depression by September 8 and move west-northwestwards, bringing heavy rainfall to several districts in Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh over the next three days.
Heavy Rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over Kendrapada, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur on Sunday.
