Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted an increase in rainfall activity in the state from July 19 onwards, citing the formation of a low-pressure area over southern Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
A press release from the regional centre of IMD stated, “A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around July 19, 2024.”
According to IMD reports, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Koraput districts will likely receive heavy rainfall today, and a ‘Yellow Warning’ has been issued for these districts, indicating heavy isolated rainfall.
Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected to occur in many places in South Odisha and a few places in North Odisha.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur at various places in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, and Puri from July 18 to July 19.
