Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation over the North Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Bangladesh coast is expected to develop into a low-pressure area, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted on Saturday. This system may bring heavy rainfall to parts of Odisha and neighboring regions in the coming days.

As per IMD reports, a low-pressure system has already formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Odisha and West Bengal coasts, resulting in rainfall across various parts of the state. Another low-pressure system is expected to form on Saturday.

Under its influence, heavy rainfall is likely in Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar on Saturday. Rainfall is also expected in parts of northern and southern Odisha. Heavy rain is likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Going by IMD prediction, heavy rainfall is expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh on June 29. Very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Jajpur on June 30, with an orange warning issued for these districts. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh.
