Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal on June 17-18, which may lead to increased rainfall in the state. The moisture-laden winds from the southeast direction are expected to bring rain to various parts of Odisha.
The weather office has predicted rain with thunderstorms and lightning in several districts, with wind speeds reaching 40-50 km/h in some areas. The rainfall is expected to continue for the next three days, with some areas likely to experience heavy showers until June 16.

Going by the IMD, six districts are likely to experience intense showers today. A yellow warning has been issued for Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nabarangapur and Nuapada districts.
Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid travelling unless necessary, as the heavy rainfall and strong winds may cause disruptions.
