Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system is all set to form over the central Bay of Bengal, which will intensify into a depression by September 26 and cross southern Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh by September 27, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
This weather system will bring heavy rainfall to the state, affecting various districts.
Going by today’s prediction, several districts in Odisha have been placed under warning due to the impending weather system. Koraput, Nabarangapur, and Nuapada are under an orange alert, while Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Balasore are under a yellow alert.
Besides, rainfall is expected in various parts of the state, including coastal, western, and interior Odisha.
Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
It is pertinent to mention that a low-pressure area is currently active over the western Bay of Bengal, while another is expected to form over the central Bay of Bengal today. Keeping back-to-back low-pressure in mind, the Regional Weather Centre has also cautioned fishermen to stay ashore until September 28 due to rough seas.
