Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar, has issued a fresh weather warning for Odisha as a low-pressure system over north Chhattisgarh and adjoining east Madhya Pradesh continues to influence the state’s weather. The system, accompanied by a cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, is expected to move west-northwestwards across east Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours.
The monsoon trough currently runs from Jaisalmer to the northwest Bay of Bengal, passing through the low-pressure area, while an additional trough extends from the northeast Arabian Sea to the Bay of Bengal across central India, contributing to widespread rainfall activity.
According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon remained active over Odisha in the past 24 hours, triggering heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several districts.
