Bhubaneswar: The Well Marked Low Pressure Area (LPA) over south Coastal Odisha & neighbourhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists, the Indian Meteorological Department said.
On the other hand, Southwest monsoon has been active over Odisha triggering light to moderate rain / thundershower at most places and heavy to very heavy rainfall in some districts.
“Monsoon trough now passes through Bikaner, Kota, Raisen, Malanjkhand, Raipur, center of Well Marked Low Pressure Area over south coastal Odisha & neighborhood and thence southeastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level,” the IMD stated.
As per the Met Department, during the next 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Kalahandi, and Bolangir.
Similarly, heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Puri, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur and Sonepur.
The IMD has issued warning for several districts forecasting heavy rains. Bhubaneswar will experience a cloudy sky with a few spells of Rain or Thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperature in the State Capital is very likely to be around 32 degrees and 25 degrees respectively.
Under the influence of Well-marked Low Pressure Area over South Coastal Odisha and neighbourhood and strong monsoon flow, Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 Kmph is very likely off Odisha Coast and adjoining West-central and North-west Bay of Bengal till July 16.
“Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea of Odisha coast and adjoining West-central and North-west Bay of Bengal till 16th July,” the IMD warned.
