Bhubaneswar: The low-pressure area over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area as of 0830 hours IST on April 8, 2025. This system is expected to impact the weather in the surrounding regions in the coming days, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Although the IMD has not issued a cyclone alert, the system’s intensification suggests a potential for further development into a cyclonic storm.
According to the regional weather office, the system is likely to move north-northwestwards over the west-central Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours, maintaining its intensity as a well-marked low. Thereafter, it is expected to recurve north-northeastwards and gradually weaken over the central Bay of Bengal in the subsequent 24 hours.
The intensification of this system may lead to increased rainfall activity in Odisha.
