Heavy Rains Likely To Lash Odisha Till Aug 29: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Most places in Odisha are very likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall during the next week under the influence of a well-marked low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal. The low-pressure area is likely to move west-northwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and adjoining north Odisha during the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its mid-day bulletin on Monday.

A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over east-central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal on August 29, it forecasted.

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha:

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 27.08.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of north Odisha and at a few places over the districts of south Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.08.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 28.08.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha and at a few places over the districts of south Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Deogarh.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.08.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 29.08.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Bolangir, and Kalahandi.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.08.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 30.08.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur in one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.08.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 01.09.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers is very likely to occur in most places over the districts of Odisha. Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur in one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khorda, Puri, Nayagarh, Bolangir, Nuapada.

Day 6 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.09.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 02.09.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.

Day 7 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 02.09.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 03.09.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of south Odisha and at a few places over the districts of north Odisha.
