Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha over the next three days due to a trough extending from south Uttar Pradesh to the Bay of Bengal.
The IMD also forecasts light to moderate rainfall across most parts of the state over the next 24 hours.
A cyclonic circulation has formed in North Bay of Bengal resulting in the formation of a low-pressure area today. This will increase the amount of rainfall in the state.
According to the weather office, heavy rain is very likely in different parts of the state on Sunday, especially Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. An orange alert has been issued by the centre for these districts as 7-20 cm of rain is expected in different parts of these districts.
Similarly, given the heavy rain in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Malkangiri, Koraput, Sundergarh and Jharsuguda districts, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for these districts. The IMD said that there may be up to 7-11 cm of rain in these districts.
