Here Is What Ex-DGP B.B. Mohanty Said After His Son Gets Bail
**Bhubaneswar: ** A few hours after the Supreme Court granted bail to Bittihotra Mohanty in the high profile rape case of a young German tourist, his father and Odisha’s ex-DGP B.B Mohanty, said that he will guide his son to be a better person after his son gets released.
Speaking to the media, Mohanty said, “I had full faith in the judiciary. It was a tragic incident. But the Rajasthan police didn’t follow the due judicial process. Accused wasn’t given adequate opportunity to defend himself. I was always falsely defamed.”
The former top cop also said that his son will devote himself into social service.
“He was always a devotee of Shree Satya Sai Baba and was working in an orphanage for years. After returning to Cuttack, he will keep working for the under-privileged children in the city,” He added.
Bitti was charged with the raping of a German national in his hotel room in Alwar in Rajasthan on March 21, 2006 when he was just 25 years old. He was convicted on April 12, 2006.
While being lodged in a jail in Alwar in Rajasthan, he was released on a 15-day parole on November 20 to see his ailing mother in Cuttack. Though Bitti was to return on December 4, 2006, he went missing and had remained traceless until January 2013. He was finally caught in Kerala. He is at present lodged in Jaipur Circle Jail of Rajasthan.
