Puri: As Odisha Government is keen on building up this world-renowned pilgrim city into a heritage city and the plan of action has already begun since last year, the Municipality authorities today resumed its demolition drive.
Accordingly, demolition of the 37 unsafe shops, adjacent to the Shree Jagannath Stadium at Penthakata, was executed today. Earlier, the shop owners had been issued notice to vacate the premises while they had sought some extra time.
However, the civic body authorities today began their activities meant for the renovation of the stadium by demolishing those unsafe shops.
While the locals have welcomed the decision, they have demanded proper rehabilitation.
