The accused have been identified as Akash Kumar Nayak (30) and Sisira Nayak (35), both residents of Kurangsasan village under Cuttack Sadar police station.

According to officials, the Excise Flying Squad intercepted the duo during a raid and recovered the contraband heroin, along with ₹4,400 suspected to be proceeds from drug sales. A red-coloured Bajaj Discover 125 motorcycle used by the accused was also seized during the operation.

The raid was conducted by a team led by Sub-Inspector of Excise Amit Kumar Biswal, along with SI SK Sakir Ulla, ASI Ajay Kumar Sahoo, ASI Karna Oram, Constable Gourang Nayak, Lady Constable Annapurna Ganda, Constable Sankarshan Rout, Constable Pabitra Kumar Dash, Constable Sumit Kumar Naik, and Constable Sibananda Sarangi.

Officials said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and network involved in the supply of the seized heroin.
