Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough, the Cuttack Excise Department sleuths has arrested two persons and seized heroin worth approximately Rs 31 lakh.
The operation was conducted on October 27, 2025, resulting in the apprehension of Basudev Das (23) and Saroj Kumar Rout (24), both residents of Champapur under Byree police station in Jajpur district.
The seizure was made at two locations: Tangi Square and Manguli Square under Tangi police station. The excise team, led by Excise Inspector Abani Kumar Mohapatra and comprising other officials, including Excise SI Dibyajyoti Satyaprakash, Excise SI Bibhuti Bhusan Pradhan, Kishore Chandra Rout (ASI), and constables Manas Ranjan Behera, Deepak Kumar Sahoo, Biswanath Bhoi, and Ranjan Kumar Patra, carried out the operation successfully.
