Bhubaneswar: During 5T Secretary VK Pandian’s visits to different districts of the State under instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, he received several complaints for solving drinking water issues at different places.
A high level review meeting was held today at the Chief Minister’s office in this connection.
In addition to 5T Secretary VK Pandian, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Principal Secretary Sushil Kumar Lohani and other senior officers participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, it was decided to solve the drinking water-related problems of Athagarh, Narsinghpur, Pipili and Athmalik blocks immediately.
Emphasis was laid on proper monitoring of all pipeline water supply projects under construction in Narsinghpur and Athagarh along with maintaining high standards of projects and timely completion of projects.
Similarly, it was decided to take urgent steps to resolve the various problems in the ongoing piped water supply projects in Pipili. Directions were issued to tighten security measures to prevent illegal theft of water, especially upstream of the projects.
SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) will be implemented to detect and immediately solve the problems in the rural piped water supply schemes implemented across the state.
It has been decided to provide more staff to speed up the projects as well as to continue power supply to all the projects. The meeting decided to develop an effective method to solve the problem of electricity bill payment in piped water supply projects.
