Bhubaneswar: High voltage drama unfolded in the heart of the city on Tuesday afternoon when a youth went on delivering slaps at a young woman following the latter’s scuffle with another youth.
The video of this entire event which occured near Indira Gandhi Park was captured on mobile phones by the public. The video revealed that the woman was first involved in an argument during which she generously used expletives in full public glare.
When a youth intervened and asked the girl to refrain from using slangs, she started abusing the former. Infuriated by the girl’s behaviour, the youth hammered her with several slaps.
The drama continued for around 10 minutes during which a minor road congestion was seen. All this occurred when the Assembly session was underway and the area was fortified by the police.
A senior citizen mediated and stopped the youth from beating the woman. Towards the end of the video, the girl was seen raising a complaint on the matter before two policemen and asked the youth to come to Capital Police station.
The reason behind the intial scuffle between the girl and the youth remains unclear. Whether the duo were lovers, friends, or there was anything fishy is yet to be ascertained. It is very likely that the matter reached police station, however, no further information on this could be sourced.
