Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, as many as eight robbers in a Scorpio vehicle attacked a group of bike-borne men on the Dashapalla-Bhanjanagar Highway in Nayagarh district, leaving one of them injured.
The incident occurred at around 4 am near Sakeni village under the Dasapalla police station.
According to reports, the victims, including Jatia Behera from Khandapada village, were going to Bhanjanagar on a bike when the robbers intercepted them and demanded money. When the victims refused, the robbers attacked them. While the other two fled the scene in fear, the miscreants brutally assaulted Jatia with fists and blades, leaving Jatia seriously injured. The robbers then set the bike on fire and fled the scene.
The injured person was rushed to the Dasapalla Community Health Centre by locals, where he is receiving treatment.
Dasapalla police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
The incident has sent shockwaves in the area, with locals demanding increased security measures on the highway.
