Malkangiri: Senior BJP leader and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday exuded confidence that a double-engine government will be formed in Odisha this time.
Addressing an election rally at Kalimela in Malkangiri, he made a series of promises for the people of Malkangiri and Odisha.
If the BJP is voted to power, five lakh people from Odisha will get free pilgrimage to Ayodhya’s Ram temple.
“In Assam, I have decided to take one lakh people to Ayodhya, and the state government will bear the cost. As Odisha is bigger than Assam, 5 lakh people should get this facility. A new BJP chief minister will facilitate this pilgrimage if the party is voted to power in Odisha,” Sarma said.
Sarma also promised to appoint Bengali teachers in school for of Bengali-speaking population in Malkangiri district.
Sarma said that BJP government would change the names of villages like ‘MV-82, MV-83’. The Assam CM said: the State government had dishonoured the people by naming the villages like this. Only inmates in jails are assigned numbers, but here, villages are named with numbers.”
“Appointing Bengali teachers and changing the names of these villages are two guarantees of the BJP,” Sarma said.
Hitting out at the BJD government, he said that youths are getting employment in the State. The BJP, if voted to power, would provide 3 lakh jobs to youths. He also criticised the State government over question paper leak.
He asserted that BJP does whatever it speaks. Promising cash voucher of Rs 50,000 for women, Sarma said women can withdraw Rs 25,000 each from the amount per year.
