Bhubaneswar: After being denied ticket by the BJD, Hindol MLA Simarani Naik, who resigned from the BJD on Monday, has joined the BJP today at party state headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
She embraced the saffron camp in presence of party state president Manmohan Samal, senior leader Samir Mohanty, Odisha BJP election in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar and several other leaders.
On Monday, the BJD announced the name of Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahu as the party candidate for Hindol Assembly seat.
It is said that the BJP may field Naik from Hindol. The BJD and Congress announced candidates for this seat.
It is worth noting that Simarani was elected to State Assembly twice from Hindol on BJD ticket. She had won the election in 2014 and 2019.
