Bhubaneswar: Sanatani Hindu organizations from across Odisha staged a protest at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati.
Members of several Hindu outfits joined the agitation, raising slogans and pressing for immediate government action. The organizations also plan to meet Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to submit a memorandum of demands.
The protestors pointed out that they had staged similar demonstrations during the tenure of the previous government but alleged that their demands were ignored. Even under the new government, they claimed, no resolution has been achieved so far.
Along with the demand for a CBI investigation into the murder, the organizations also sought the release of Hindu leader Dara Singh, who has been serving a jail sentence in Keonjhar for the past 25 years.
Leaders of the protesting groups asserted that the agitation would continue until their demands are fulfilled.
