Bhubaneswar: Doyen of Hindustani Classical and Uddra Paddhatiya sangeet Pandit Dr Damodar Hota will be cremated with State Honours, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced on Sunday evening.
Hota, the pioneer of Uddra Paddhatiya music, and a vocalist par excellence of Hindustani Classical belonging to the ‘Gwalior Gharana’ passed away at his residence here at Nayapali on Saturday night. He was 87.
Mourning the demise of the eminent musician, the Chief Minister said, “Mortal remains of Late Pandit Hota will be cremated with state honours.” The Chief Minister conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Naveen expressed deep grief at the passing away of the eminent Hindustani vocalist and said, “His contribution to Indian classical music will be ever remembered by the posterity.”
