Sambalpur: The Hirakud Dam has opened three more sluice gates following the rise in the water level of the reservoir. Presently, excess water is being released through eight gates.
The water level in Hirakud reservoir was at 614.56 feet today. 1,24,734 cusec water is entering the reservoir while 1,62,821 cusec water is being released through the gates.
Following heavy and incessant rainfall upstream, the Dam authorities released the season’s first floodwater from the reservoir through five sluice gates on July 18.
