Sambalpur: Following heavy and incessant rainfall upstream, the water level in Hirakud Dam has been increasing continuously.
Therefore, the Dam authorities released the season’s first floodwater from the reservoir at 11 am today through five sluice gates.
The inflow into Hirakud Dam was around 2 lakh cubic feet and the outflow was 28,000 cubic feet. The gates were opened for balancing the outflow with inflow.
Around 75,000 cusecs water is being released into the Mahanadi river through the five gates.
