Hirakud Dam Releasing Water Through Three Sluice Gates

Bhubaneswar: The Hirakud Dam is today releasing water through three sluice gates as the reservoir is at its full capacity, revealed the data shared by the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC).

The water level of Hirakud stood at its storage capacity of 630 ft at 9 AM today. 80,196 cusec water was entering the reservoir and the same amount of water was being released.

As per the data, five rivers namely Brahmani, Baitarani, Burhabalanga, Subarnarekha, and Jalaka were reportedly swelling at seven places across the State.

It is worthwhile to mention that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday had warned of rise in the water level in Subarnarekha river basin.
