Cuttack: A number of history sheeters, involved in four separate burglary and theft cases under Markatnagar and Lalbag police limits in Cuttack were arrested on Sunday.
Accused Anil Das alias Ghantua (24), Purna Chandra Das alias Jaga (23), Gita Das (55) and Soni Kashyap alias Mama (27) of Immampada in Satichaura Basti under Markatnagar police limits have been arrested for committing theft from a mobile phone shop.
As per a complaint lodged by Bhusana Biswal, proprietor of City Mobile shop, some unknown culprits had committed theft from his shop on January 3 night at about 12 AM to 3 AM.
Investigation revealed that Anil and Purna committed the theft of mobile phones and other accessories from the shop after framing a plan with Gita and Soni and distributed the said phone among them to sell the same for their gain.
Police have seized 16 smartphones, one HP Laptop, six power banks and other accessories of the mobile phones from their possession.
Investigation further revealed that the above mentioned accused along with few others were involved in two more cases under Lalbag police limits, one registered on January 1 and the other on January 3.
Anil and Purna along with Raju Jena (27) of the same locality are accused of committing theft from Bidanasi Branch of Axis Bank at Satichaura.
As per a complaint lodged by Branch Head Gayatri Samantaray on January 1, some unknown persons had entered the bank by cutting the window grill with gas cutter. They stole the laptop, desktop monitor, microwave over and other articles from the bank.
There was also a failed attempt to cut open the chest of the bank with the gas cutter to steal currency notes. It was after arrest of Anil in Markatnagar Police Station case he revealed the details.
Police seized one HP grey colour laptop, two desktop monitors and one Bajaj Microwave Oven in this connection.
In the next case under Lalbag police limits, the above five along with Manoj Kashyap (34), Sujata Das alias Kandhei (22) and Mallika Bibi alias Mili (26) were accused of stealing several computer systems, laptops, mobile phones and cash from SGBL Auto Mobiles Private Limited at Satichaura.
During investigation on the complaint of the Director of SGBL Auto Mobiles Private Limited, Sunil Kumar Gupta, the involvement of the accused in the above case came to notice.
Lalbag Police kept surveillance over the criminals related with property offences and was about to nab Anil in the above case when he was arrested by Markatnagar Police. On getting information about his arrest, Lalbag Police subjected him to interrogation and he disclosed to have committed three crimes in the area including burglary at house of a jewellery shop owner.
Police recorded his statement, accompanied him to different places and to all his accomplices and recovered the stolen items in the last case including cash of Rs 2,56,100 and one Sony 32′ TV.
