Hockey World Cup: Rourkela Fest Commences Today

Bhubaneswar: The 9-day ‘Rourkela Fest’ will commence on Saturday and continue till January 22. As many as 25 popular artists from Bollywood, various regions of Odisha and the country will entertain the residents of this Steel City during hockey’s biggest extravaganza here.

Rourkela along with Bhubaneswar is hosting the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 matches at the newly-constructed Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium from January 13 to January 28. A large number of hockey enthusiasts from the city as well as outside Sundargarh district have thronged to Rourkela to witness the international sports event.

On this occasion, the ‘Rourkela Fest’ will be organised at Melana Ground in Sector-13 to entertain these hockey enthusiasts. The ‘Rourkela Fest’ will be organised every day between 4 pm and 11 pm. A number of popular Bollywood stars will perform during the ‘Rourkela Fest’ and ‘Starry Night’, which is scheduled from 7 pm onwards every day and entry to the concert is ticketed. However, entry to the other zones is free.

The schedule for the concert and the names of performers for each day are given below:

  • January 14: Sukhwinder Singh, Black Swan, Rapper Big Deal, and Disha Patani.
  • January 15: Benny Dayal, Prince Dance Group, and Ananya Nanda.
  • January 16: Lisa Mishra, Rituraj Mohanty, and Sniti Mishra.
  • January 17: Indian Ocean band, Kabir Cafe band, and Dancer Harihar Dash.
  • January 18: Navya Jaiti, Thaikuddum Bridge (rock), and DJ Praveen Nair.
  • January 19: Kailash Kher, Sand artist – Manas Kumar Sahoo, and Odissi Nritya Mandal.
  • January 20: Amit Trivedi & Gang, and Gunjan Dance Academy.
  • January 21: Salim Sulaiman & Gang, and Mayurbhanj Chhau Dance.
  • January 22: Sonu Nigam, and Neeti Mohan
