Bhubaneswar: A holiday has been declared in all schools in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Thursday because of widespread unseasonal rain under the influence of the cyclonic storm Michaung. A notification issued by the Sundargarh District Collector said all schools and Anganwadi centers in the district will remain closed on Thursday due to inclement weather.
Sundargarh District Education Officer Amulya Kumar Pradhan said that all school authorities have been intimated in this regard.
The unseasonal rain continued to lash several parts of the district since Monday. On Tuesday, the district recorded 51.2 mm of rainfall, while 57.80 mm of rainfall was recorded by Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, all schools and Anganwadi centers in Gajapati district were closed on Wednesday due to heavy rain.
