Bhubaneswar: A dispute between two groups of servitors at the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar has resulted in the stalling of the rituals of Lord Lingaraj since Monday evening.
According to reports, the Mahasura servitors have been traditionally preparing the ‘Ghruta Kamala’ after Lord Lingaraj is moved to the Makar Mandap after the propitious ‘Pushyabhiseka Sandhya Dhupa’ ritual on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. However, on Monday the Badu servitor were adamant on performing the ritual and this dispute led to the stalling of all the rituals at the famous temple since Monday evening.
As a result of this dispute, Lord Lingaraj has been left seated at the Makar Mandap with no rituals being performed after ‘Pushyabhiseka Sandhya Dhupa’. What is worse is that the Lord has also not been taken back to the southern sanctum.
Unfortunately, such disputes between servitor groups are not new and often they have disrupted the rituals at the shrine.
